Are you manually adding citations for articles you read on DeepDyve into your reports or articles? You can save time and aggravation—and ensure more accurate references—by automating this step!
Whether using DeepDyve’s own reference manager or a third-party tool, like Zotero, Mendley, or Endnote, here are some tips for optimizing your citation workflow.
DeepDyve’s Reference Manager
DeepDyve’s Reference Manager helps you import citations for articles saved to personal or shared folders directly into Microsoft Word documents. After you’ve captured the relevant articles to your folders, simply install the Word add-in for DeepDyve.
Here’s a short how-to article to guide you through the easy process of adding DeepDyve’s Reference Manager to your workflow, or watch our video below:
But if you’re already using something else, no problem!
Zotero
The DeepDyve platform is compatible with the Zotero browser plug-in, which allows you to easily add citations for articles you find on DeepDyve to your Zotero library. You can also upload PDFs and citations from a DeepDyve folder into your Zotero library. Zotero can also generate citations from uploaded PDFs, where the metadata is available.
To import all citations from a personal or shared folder on DeepDyve into your Zotero library, simply click the “cite folder” button in the upper-right of your folder list (see image below).
For Zotero, select the RIS format. Read more here about exporting citations from your DeepDyve library. For more about adding citations to Zotero, see their documentation here.
Mendeley
The DeepDyve platform is also compatible with the Mendeley browser plug-in, for one-click additions of article citations to your Mendeley library. You can also upload PDFs and citations from a DeepDyve folder into your Mendeley library.
To capture all citations from a personal or shared folder, simply click the “cite folder” button in the upper-right of your Deepdyve folder (see image below). You will be prompted to select a citation format before downloading a plain-text file with all your citations.
For Menedeley, select the RIS format. Read more here about exporting citations from your DeepDyve library. For more about adding items to Mendeley, see their help documentation here.
EndNote
While the EndNote plugin does not currently allow automated additions of DeepDye citations, you can upload PDFs and/or reference files from DeepDyve folders into your EndNote library. Citation export options include the option for an EndNote-compatible format (see below). For more about EndNote, see their help documentation here.
However you choose to organize your work, DeepDyve can help you make sure that everything stays organized and easy to find.
